Insider advice for the new city teacher!

How can teachers prepare to meet the many challenges they will face in a city school? Written by a highly regarded teacher with years of experience supervising new teachers in urban and suburban schools, this new book focuses directly on urban teaching. To help new teachers navigate their first years in urban classrooms, the author provides invaluable "insider" recommendations for coping with school realities ranging from overcrowded classes and a lack of appropriate materials to cultural diversity, frustrating bureaucracy, and school violence. Using the author’s personal experiences as well as relevant research, this guide also serves as an important resource for all teacher educators.
